Cadastral Map

Cadastral maps show land ownership, rights to land access and use, and obligations. In most countries they are best known for their use in taxation, but this only becomes a significant revenue source in a few countries of the world, especially the United States. The cadastral map's significance comes mainly from its role in governance and in land development and speculation. This particular cadastral survey under Franz  I covered not only the territory of the present Republic of Austria, but also all other countries of the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The cadastral maps on this site are of great importance and interest to the owners, surveyors, historians, and geographers in Austria. They describe the history of the ownership, the course of the boundaries and the land use of all parcels in the scales 1:2880, 1: 1440 or 1: 5760.
