PLSS Map

PLSS (Public Land Survey System) maps are used to divide public domain lands which are owned by the Federal Government for the benefit of the citizens in the United States. All lands in the public domain are subject to subdivision by this rectangular system of surveys, which is regulated by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management. The Public Land Survey System is the foundation for many survey-based geographic information systems. This PLSS map of Franklin County shows Townships and Ranges.
